About Attorney H. Lynn Henry
Lynn was born in Springfield, Missouri, in 1948. After graduating from West Plains High School, and then from the University of Missouri at Columbia, Lynn went on to law school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Working his way through law school as a law clerk with the Kansas City law firm of Erdmannsdorff and Kuhlman, Lynn drafted the briefs for a case which went to the Supreme Court of Missouri that stands as a landmark decision allowing for the stacking of uninsured motorist coverage in this state. Like his father before him, Lynn was admitted to Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and was elected to the highest office, the office of Justice. Upon graduating from law school with his Juris Doctor Degree, Lynn returned to West Plains in 1974 to join his father and brother in the law firm then known as Henry, Henry and Henry.
Lynn is a member of the Association of the Trial Lawyers of America, the Missouri Bar, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and the 37th Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He has been admitted to practice by the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and has extensive experience in the trial of personal injury and wrongful death cases in state as well as federal court.
Lynn is past president of the 37th Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Missouri Bar, to the American Board of Trial Advocates, and to the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys serving as a member of the Executive Committee, chairman of the Key Person and Association Development Committees, and as Vice-Chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee.
Lynn has served on the Missouri Bar Special Committee on Rules for Professional Conduct and he has received the highest possible rating, an “A” rating, by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the most comprehensive and widely consulted directory for members of the legal profession. Lynn has been selected for membership in International Who’s Who and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
As a lecturer and author, Lynn’s major areas of concentration are automobile accidents, semi-truck wrecks, premises liability, and medical malpractice, with special emphasis on catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases.
About Attorney Harold L. Henry
Harold was born in West Plains in 1924. Shortly after graduating from West Plains High School, Harold entered the U.S. Army. He served in a tank battalion in Europe during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart from the Battle of the Bulge, five campaign Bronze Stars and the Bronze Star Medal for outstanding efficiency, courage and coolness under fire. When the war concluded, Harold returned home to West Plains and later married Martha M. Johnson.
After the birth of the first two children, Lynn and Don, Harold decided to enter the legal profession and moved his family to Columbia. He completed his college education and was accepted to Law School at the University of Missouri at Columbia. While working his way through law school, Harold was admitted to Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity and received the American Jurisprudence Award for the highest grade in Corporations.
Upon graduation from M.U. law school in 1956, Harold was selected by Missouri’s Attorney General John Dalton, later Governor of Missouri, to serve as Assistant Attorney General. After two years as Assistant Attorney General, Harold returned to West Plains and was elected Probate and Magistrate Judge and later Prosecuting Attorney of Howell County.
Harold practiced law in West Plains from January 1961 until 1987 when he was appointed by the Governor of Missouri to serve as Circuit Judge. Harold served as Circuit Judge until 1994, when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 70, at which time he returned to the law firm he had earlier founded, rejoining his sons and their two law partners, Dale Engelbrecht and Roy Williams.
Harold, referred to as “Judge” Henry by family and friends, is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and the 37th Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He has been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
About Attorney Dale R. Engelbrecht
Dale was born in Lebanon, Missouri, in 1959. He grew up in Neosho, Missouri, and graduated from Neosho High School in 1977. Dale attended Missouri State University in Springfield, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1981.
Upon obtaining his bachelor’s degree Dale went on to law school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. While there, Dale was selected to Phi Kappa Phi Law Fraternity, the order of Bench and Robe and to the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law Review. During law school, Dale clerked for United States District Court Judge Brook Bartlett and two Kansas City law firms, Reed & Ramsey and Hillix, Brewer, Hoffhaus and Whittaker.
After graduating with his Juris Doctor degree in 1984, Dale worked as a law clerk for senior United States District Court Judge William R. Collinson in Springfield from 1984 to 1986.
In 1986 Dale went to work with the Springfield law firm of Miller & Sanford. He left Springfield in 1989 to come to West Plains to practice law with Lynn and Don and to help fill the vacancy left in the firm by the Governor’s appointment of Harold to the office of Circuit Judge for the 37th Judicial Circuit.
Dale is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and the 37th Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. He is admitted to practice in United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Dale has handled numerous serious felonies such as capital murder, manslaughter and rape as well as numerous civil cases involving personal injury and wrongful death cases. His areas of practice are automobile collisions, criminal defense, family law and product liability.
About Attorney Roy E. Williams
Roy was born in Montrose, Colorado, in 1962 and was raised on a farm in Bunker, Shannon County, Missouri, graduating from Bunker High School in 1980. Following high school graduation, Roy went to Missouri State University in Springfield where he obtained his college degree.
After completing his college education, Roy attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. While working his way through law school clerking for the Michigan Legislative Service Bureau, Roy received academic honors of being selected to the American Society of Writers on Legal Subjects, the Thomas M. Cooley Legal Author’s Society and he became Editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review. He was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Awards for the highest grades in Legal Research and Writing, Constitutional Law, and Contracts. Upon graduating Magna Cum Laude with his Juris Doctor degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1991, Roy came to West Plains to join the law firm then known as Henry, Henry & Engelbrecht.
Since coming to West Plains, Roy has served on the faculty of Southwest Missouri State University, West Plains Campus, as Adjunct Professor of Business Law. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Arkansas and is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Missouri Bar, the Arkansas Bar, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the National Association of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives, and the 37th Judicial Circuit Bar Association.
Roy has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. Roy has handled such matters as brain-damaged baby medical malpractice cases, numerous cases for the seriously injured and disabled, as well as many wrongful death suits.
